Welcome to our gîtes in Saint-Michel Loubéjou.  We have been members of Gîtes de France for more than 40 years and so have great experience of summer rentings.

You will find a very warm welcome here. As a retired English teacher, I (Marie-France Blanc) speak English fluently, so your needs will be excellently catered for.

Puymule Gite (with swimming Pool)                              Pech de Bazou Gite

These traditional gîtes are located in the Dordogne valley in the north of the Department named the "Lot".  It is one of the most popular tourist areas of France. The climate is usually dry and bright in the winter, sunny and hot in the summer.

If you are seeking peace and tranquillity, our two gîtes are the answer to your prayers. They were built from the 17th to the 19th century with golden limestone. The small flat red tiles on the roof have original shapes, also very typical - since before Napoleon - of this part of the country called Quercy.

They have been restored recently, mixing modernity and comfort, but without destroying their original character.  One of the gîtes has a large private swimming pool.

The words of most of our visitors can be summarized as follows : "what makes these gites so unusual and attractive is that they have got 'a soul', it's as if we came to a house which belongs to our family. "

They are located in two very pretty hamlets, each comprising of about 10 houses, built on a high ridge overlooking the valleys of river Cère and the river Bave - both of which join the river Dordogne a few kms away.

Their rural setting, far from the traffic, lends an air of tranquility, but they are not as remote as they feel.  The picturesque little towns of Bretenoux and St Céré are only 4 kms away - with a great variety of shops and farmers' markets which will cater for all your needs.

Only a few kilometres' drive from the gîtes, you will find that the scenery changes from gentle rolling hills and valleys, to the forests and meadows of the Massif Central in the east or to the dry limestone-plateaux in the west.

According to the famous photographer Robert Doisneau it is "the most beautiful landscape in France".

There are numerous wonderful places to visit within 30kms such as Rocamadour which dates back to 11th  century (considered the 2nd best location to visit in France), the caves of Padirac with its massive underground lake and boat trip, and Pech Merle with its prehistoric paintings and many pretty villages and chateaux.

You can enjoy all sorts of sports locally: canoeing, fishing, rambling, horse-riding.... or attend one of the many musical events during festival times.

The gastronomy of the area needs no mention, it is world renowned.

Both gites have WIFI.
